Flats for SC judges by 2013Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha . Dhaka
The government will construct a high-rise apartment building for residential purposes of the Supreme Court’s judges in one year time.
The proposal for the Tk 165-crore 20-story building project will be placed today at the meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council for approval. The prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, will chair the meeting, Planning Commission official said.
Currently, 101 judges among 120 of the apex court are residing in rental houses in different parts of the city, which is costing government huge money for renting and ensuring security.
The planned apartment building with 30-story foundation will be constructed on 1.48 acres of land after replacing the existing circuit house in city’s Kakrail area.
Department of Housing and Public Works will implement the apartment project by 2013. The project involves construction of 29,608 square metre apartment building, developing water supply and drainage systems, installing power lines, electrical equipment and 10-KWP solar panel, 1,776 square metre approach road, security wall and a compound drain.
