90 years of publication of Bidrohi celebrated

Indira Gandhi Cultural Center organised a cultural programme featuring music and a book launching ceremony on the National Poet of Bangladesh Kazi Nazrul Islam on Saturday at its auditorium in Gulshan marking 90 years of publication of Bidrohi by rebel poet.
Noted Nazrul researcher and chairperson of the trustee board of Nazrul Institute Trustee Board of Bangladesh professor Rafiqul Islam launched Nazrul Bichitra, a commemorative book on the life of Nazrul at the programme.
The launching ceremony was followed by a colorful musical programme, in which eminent Nazrul singer Khairul Aman Shakil and his wife Masuda Anam Kalpona presented some timeless Nazrul songs including Amar kon kule aj bhirlo tori, Porodeshi, Shunyo ei buke, Kuhu kuhu kuhu kohelia and Nayan bhora jol go tomar.
Soulful presentation of the talented singers moved the audience with the power of Nazrul’s wonderful sentimental songs, which are great treasures of Bangla music.
Shakil-Kalpona duo was accompanied by Ifthekar Alam on Tabla, Almas Ali on violin, Doulatur Rahman on keyboard and Alamgir Hossain on Mandira.
Hall full audience enjoyed the show. Labiba Anam, an audience told the New Age, ‘I really appreciate the initiative taken by High Commission of India. The music presented in the evening was just soul-striving.’
