142 new audio albums this Eid

One hundred forty-two new solo, duet and mixed audio albums will be released by nine audio production houses on the occasion of upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
   The albums of both newcomers and noted singers are in the line during the festival.
   Production house Sangeeta will release 40 new albums, Soundtek 30, Fahim Music 20, Basuda Arb Entertainment 17, G-series 15, Laser Vision 8, Gaanchil 7, Bengal Music 3 and Ektaar 2.
   Sangeeta’s release includes ‘Salaam namaskar’ by Andrew Kishore, ‘X factor’ by Tishma, ‘Premer utsab’ by Bari Siddiqui, mixed album ‘Pencil e anka chobi-2’ in which newcomers will perform, and another mixed album ‘Aito prem’ by Habib, Nancy and others.
   Audio production Soundtek will release 30 new audio albums, 15 of them in cassettes while the rest will in compact disks. The albums include ‘Mone rekho moray’ by legendary singer Ferdousi Rahman, Biplab and Hasan’s duet ‘Sweetie’, Asif’s solo ‘Jabab dao’, Doli Shayontoni’s ‘Radha’, and a mixed album of Mitali Mukherjee, Andrew Kishore and Doli Shayontoni.
   Music production house Fahim will bring out 20 new titles for the festival. Among them are ‘Purush maney debdas?’, a solo by Biplab, ‘Meghe meghe’, a mixed album by Anusheh, Chandana Majumder, Mithila, Raaga and Nirjhor, and ‘Chan mukhe madhur hashi’ by Shandipan.
   Entertainment house Basuda Arb Entertainment will release 17 new albums including Subir Nandy’s solo ‘Chander ghari’, Asif’s solo ‘Pani nai chokey’, Abida Sultana’s solo ‘Antorey bairagi’ and a mixed album performed by Chandana Majumdar, Bari Siddiqui, Mamtaz, Asif and Fazlur Rahman Babu.
   G-series and its sister concern Agnibeena will together bring out 15 new albums for the listeners. The releases include ‘Akhono ami’, a duet album by Sumon and Anila, ‘Redefine’, a solo by Mila, ‘Se ke’ by Tapu, ‘Bappa with Rockers’, a mixed album performed by Bappa, Sumon, Fuad and Arnab.
   Laser Vision will release eight new tracks including audio songs of the film ‘Namuna’ directed by Enamul Karim Nirjhor. ‘Street singer’ by Pritom, ‘Bolo na’ by Hridoy Khan are also in the list.
   Music production house Gaanchil’s Eid release are Nakib Khan’s solo album ‘Bristir Rat’, Kumar Biswajit’s ‘Premer manush gumaile cheye thake’, duet album ‘Antaheen’ by Anil and Mahadi and a mixed album ‘Elshe gurir din’ by artistes of TV talent show Khudhe Gaanraj.
   Bengal Music will bring out three new albums including mixed album ‘Charki’, and two solo albums of Arnab and Gourab.
   Production house Ektaar will release two new albums for the listeners on the occasion of Eid. They are ‘Ekjana’, a solo by Shahjahan Munshi, and ‘Premanjali’, a mixed album by Pantho Kanai, Baghi, Chaity and Priyanka.


Photo exhibition on Werner Herzong

The travelling photo exhibition titled ‘Film must be physical’ jointly organised by Goethe-Institut and BEGART Institute of Photography is being held at the gallery of Goethe Institut in Dhanmondi.
   The exhibition, inaugurated on September 16, will remain open from 10:00am to 8:00pm from Sunday to Thursday till October 8.
   The organisers have put 50 photographs on display, 37 of them are taken by
   Beat Presser and the rest from the Filmmuseum of Berlin.
   The exhibition has
   travelled many countries and it was held in India before arriving in Bangladesh.
   The exhibition will display in Greece after the twenty three-day display in Bangladesh.
   The exhibition is a biography of the world renowned German filmmaker Werner Herzong.
   The photographs were captured by the skilled
   photographer and cameraman Beat Presser when
   he was working as an assistant cameraman of Herzong. The photographer Presser was the set photographer for three of Herzong’s films.
   Photographer Presser captured all the images while Herzong was working for his films in different countries.
   Several expressions of Herzong during his works were the main feature of the exhibition.
   The photographs present Herzong directing, gossiping with the shooting team and his leisure moments.
   Hezong was also
   captured in frame when he was moving like a leader with the native people in Africa.
   Beat Presser was born in Switzerland in 1952 and had his training as photographer and cameraman in Basel, Paris and New York and worked as a photo editor of various magazine in the late 1970. Currently he is a freelance photographer and cameraman.
   He also published a book with photographs on Werner Herzog.
   ‘The exhibition is a photo-documentary on Herzong. There are many things we have learnt from the exhibition. As a photographer I have learnt various aspects of photo-documentary’, said a freelance photographer Nabila Ahmed.
   One of the organisers said that they have arranged the exhibition especially for those who want to know about the photo-documentary.
   The exhibition also aims to introduce the works of the western photographers to the viewers of Bangladesh.
   The exhibition is organised on the occasion of the 60th birthday of the Herzong.


Gangajatra to be premiered
on Eid day

World premiere of the full-length Bangla feature film ‘Gangajatra’ (The Journey) will be held on the Eid day on Channel-i. The film will be telecast at 2:25pm. The Star Cineplex will also release the film on the day.
   The film is scripted and directed by Syed Ohiduzzaman Diamond and starred by Ferdous and Popy. Hasan Ahmed worked on camera.
   The story of the film deals with Rupa, a sex worker who gives birth to a baby girl and now she becomes desperate to get out from the brothel with her dear daughter.
   Regarding the film, Syed Ohiduzzaman Diamond who has earned fame as the presenter of real life, said, ‘I have tried to uphold humanity in the film. I have tried to uphold the rights of people irrespective of professions.’
   He explains, ‘There are some people in our society who became different at night. People from all strata of life irrespective of their religions visits brothel and touch a sex worker. But when a sex worker dies, she becomes untouchable.’
   Regarding the experience during shooting of the film Diamond said, ‘We had shot the film in hot temperature as for the sake of the film we wanted this kind of atmosphere.’
   It is said that In the middle of the shooting, 1200ft expose negative kept in the digital lab of FDC was stolen. In this regard he said ‘I had re-shot the film. I do not know actually who were involved in stealing the reel. But I hope the viewers will enjoy the film.’


Shaon Chowdhury’s Tomar
Akashe released

Music production house Impress Audio Vision has recently released Shaon Chowdhury’s third solo album ‘Tomar Akashe’ that contains nine songs.
   All the songs have been composed by Mostaq Ahmed while the lyrics are written by several lyricists. Like his previous ones, the latest album is also vibrant with soft melodies in line with this country’s classical tradition.
   Shaon Chowdhury is already recognised for his two previous releases, an audio and a video album which were received with appreciation by listeners. Born in Kishoregonj, he started to take music lessons since his early childhood. He is a disciple of the famous singer Neaz Mohammad Chowdhury.
   He regularly presents songs in the radio and television. He also occasionally performs in playback songs. The singer expects that like the previous albums his latest one will also get appreciation from the audience.
