Tough job, weak team
Political and economic management of a country is a team work starting from planning to implementation.
We all live in global village now. Information transfer is at our finger tips; electronic and print media are bringing the politicians and other state actors in front of the public and putting them to public scrutiny. Performance evaluation is easier than before. But performing up to people’s expectation is not easy, therefore, when the going gets tough only the tough gets going, as the saying goes.
Few days back, the communications minister went to Knachpur area of Dhaka city to show that there is no traffic jam in that area,
and alleged it as a media frenzy only. Earlier, the Tipaimukh
issue also elicited some ministers to show their indifference towards it and embarking on wrong footed statements. All these only
show how far they are removed from reality.
The prime minister has tagged some efficient minders as advisers to oversee the activities of some important ministries. This is in fact creating more hindrances in administration due to diarchy and infringements. Just the other day establishment adviser announced that three envoys will enjoy state minister’s status. Why do they need that? Isn’t their ambassadorship enough to assert their position and discharge their duties? Why the exchequer of this poor country has to bear such unnecessary expenditure? Does Adviser HT Imam think the government money as Gouri Sen’s money? (Lagey taka debe Gouri Sen). Why the finance minister is giving in to such extravagance?
The cabinet should be an
amalgam of experienced politicians with relevant track record and potential new faces. The present government has not yet accomplished that.
