Awami League and its cadres

Recent development of criminal activities in the country leads us to ponder over the control of overall administration in the government. The question which comes up in our mind is 'Who is in control of the day-to-day administrative affairs of the country, is it the elected legislators i.e. the parliament or the cadres of the ruling party?' Daily news from both print and electronic media indicates a sharp and alarming rise in the number of reports of meddling and interference by the ruling party goons in every step and everywhere in the administrative decision, virtually dictating the decision making processes in the government as well as non-government organisations. Either the Chhatra-, Jubo-, Swechhasebok- , Mahila- or any interested combinations of such leagues are everywhere, in a remote primary or secondary school or college, university hall, upazilla office, bank, hospital, media office, thana police or RAB office, to dictate the decision making processes. They are either posted or transferred as workers, labourers, officers, or scientists without any particular job assignment but only to impart guidance to the executive heads of the organisation concerned. The executive heads have to obey or face demotion, transfer or forced retirement. But the voters have given the ruling administrative mandate to the party only and not to its cadres. Whereas in fact, it appears that the party has lost its control over its cadres and yielded to their demands for moneymaking. The cumulative effect of such corrupt practice will result in a negative impact on the total productivity, progress and development of the nation and tarnish the popularity of the party. During the Liberation War, we were all supporters of Awami League. To help us hold on to that good will, we suggest that the party leadership opens her eyes and ears to hear us and tighten her grips to translate her words and promises into stern action and save the image of Bangabandhu's Awami League for its future nation-building role.
