WASA officials blame power outage, worn-out supply lines

Severe load shedding, excessive dependence on groundwater and worn-out supply lines at different areas are the major reasons for water crisis in the capital city, officials of the Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority said. The pumps of Dhaka WASA and treatment plants have been failing to supply water as per its capacity due to heavy load shedding coupled with fluctuation of and low voltage, said a high official of WASA, adding that almost half of their pumps remained inoperative for a certain period every day...[ + ]
