Loko Natyadal stages Tushagni
Robab Rosan

‘Tushagni,’ the latest production of the theatre group called Loko Natyadal, was staged at the Experimental Theatre Hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on November 12.
Written by Mohita Chattapadhyaya, ‘Tushagni’ was directed by Abdullah Al Harun.
The neatly constructed play presents a country where no citizen commits crime and expresses no criticism of the government.
Prisoners in jail also behave well and promise that they will not do any crime in future and the political prisoners also give their word that they will speak out against government activities.
The police administration fears that if they do not get criminals or critics of the government, the system will collapse.
Even then, if the prisons become prisoner-free the people who work at the jail will be jobless. People of the intelligent branch of the police administration search criminals in different places of the city.
Sometimes they try to excite the common people saying against the government policy. But interestingly, the people become furious and beat them. In the end the police decide to arrest one of their colleagues giving the person a charge of conspiring against the government.
They want to keep the system active and appeal to the government to allocate money for reconstruction of the jail. Almost all the performers delighted the audience by performing their respective roles.
The set of the play was simple but attractive. Kamrun Noor Chowdhury deserves special mention for her set designing and costume. The lighting, done by Dr Pranabananda Chakrabarti and GM Sirajul Hossain helped in making the set more attractive.
