Blocakde disrupts rail, road, river links

Rail, road and waterways communications were badly disrupted throughout the country on Wednesday due to the six-hour blockade enforced by the Awami League-led opposition alliance. Storm kills 22 in Bay
About 1,500 missing

At least 22 people were killed and over 1500 others reported missing as more than a hundred fishing boats, caught in a sudden violent storm, capsized in the rough Bay of Bengal Tuesday night, official sources said. ACU trade hits record $16.42b

Total transactions routed cumulatively through the Asian Clearing Union during January-August period of 2006 have crossed the total trade volume of 2005. DSE gains despite blockade

Dhaka stocks regained some points on Wednesday withstanding road-rail-waterway blockade programme of opposition alliance. Turnover in value on the Dhaka Stock Exchange, however, went down by 19.15 per cent from Tuesday’s total.
