July-Nov trade deficit crosses $1.1b

Saifur asks banks to restrict long-term loans

Fire guts 2,000 shanties in capital

A large fire at Premtali Slum at Rayerbazar in Dhaka on Wednesday night razed all 2,000 shanties, leaving about 10,000 people homeless. According to a witness, the fire originated from the stove of a shanty of one Yousuf Mia, at around 9:30pm and immediately engulfed the adjacent shanties.
