High chick price hits poultry sector

The price of local day-old chicks is increasing rapidly, seriously affecting the fledgling poultry industry of the country. The soaring price is also posing risk of bird flu contamination in the country as Indian chicks, supposed to be infected in many cases, continue to be smuggled in. BFFEA demands duty-free import of machinery

Frozen food exporters have urged the government to provide duty-free facilities for importing chemicals, prefabricated cold storages, laboratory materials and generators to ensure higher value addition from exports.
