Investors seem jubilant ahead of Eid

Arrest warrant issued against 20 meat traders

A special mobile court, led by magistrate Rokon-ud-Doulah, on Friday raided Kaptanbazar in Dhaka and issued warrant of arrest against 20 meat traders on charge of selling buffalo meat as beef. The magistrate said, ‘We raided the abattoir at Kaptanbazar early morning and found 100 buffaloes and only 12 cows. The buffaloes were butchered to be sold as beef.’ He said the court had issued warrant of arrest against 20 traders, involved in the practice. Rokon said a large number of buffaloes were sold at Gabtali every day; the buffalo meat is sold as beef in city markets...[ + ]
Student bodies at Rajshahi Univ threaten strike

The Rajshahi University student organisations threatened with a strike for an indefinite period from November 15 if admission form price and the minimum required GPA for admission are not reduced by November 14.

No pool players in Abahani, Victoria

Abahani Limited and Victoria Sporting Club, both established powerhouses in the Premier Cricket League, will field no national pool players in the competition, starting from December 1. Maradona interviews Castro

Joining his friend Fidel Castro on Cuban television, Argentine soccer hero Diego Maradona said Thursday he had interviewed the communist leader for his own highly popular programme. Maradona said the interview would be aired on Monday on his television show 'La Noche del 10' - Spanish for 'The Night of 10' - referring to the renowned player's No 10 soccer jersey.
