DSE misses 2000-point mark again

Dhaka stocks have missed yet another chance in less than three months to settle over the psychologically crucial 2,000-point mark despite a bullish sentiment prevailing for a couple of weeks on the back of corporate disclosures. Prices within people’s capacity, says Saifur

An audience of economic reporters were baffled to hear the market prices of essentials quoted by the finance minister, M Saifur Rahman, who traditionally attacked pressmen for favouring news of negative impact, instead of positive outlook. ‘Newspapers and opposition political parties loudly criticise the government when price of per kilogram of rice rises by Tk one, but they remain silent when fish prices come down to half,’ the minister said, speaking at a function of Economic Reporters’ Forum in Dhaka
